Mousenap

Asleep at the mouse pad, Namiko rests peacefully after an exhausting day of frolicking through the house and playing with her other more furrier mice.

Making sure no mouse goes unsupervised under her sleepful watch:

Carpet time

The weather is starting to get a tiny bit cooler. Slightly overcast today, but still no rain. Namiko spends her day rolling around on the carpet. Twisting and turning and stretching lazily until it's time for dinner.

Not surprisingly, her midsection is starting to get a little wider.


Oh and yes, the star is for privacy... (^_^;)

Monitor snooze

Namiko never stops amusing me with places she picks for her catnaps.

Behind the computer monitor? Why not...


It's amazing how she can sleep so luxuriously with all the noise coming from the speakers.

Straight leg survey

Stretched out on the floor, with legs straight back and tail stiffly pointed, Namiko executes a lookout routine to monitor potential invasions into her territory.

Alas, no enticing prey or threatening vacuum cleaner. Just me and my digicam.

Around the scratching post

Extremely warm weekend again in SoCal. Namiko, with her thick and dense fur, is definitely not enjoying the heat. She longs for cool weather and some soothing rain.

Peeking past the doorway and into the hallway, one finds an unexpected scene:

Dreaming

Do cats dream? Whatever may be happening in a slumbering cat's brain, Namiko displays a spectrum of strange behavior during her catnaps.

One example: her eye twitches wildly while she sleeps! Perhaps she is eyeing some fast moving prey in her dream...

Her mouth also moves and chatters, often resulting in a tongue left hanging out.

To the right

I recently noticed that Namiko always leans to her right when she sits back. I wonder if it's some neurological tendency or simply a lop-sided distribution of belly fat that is creating the bias. (^_^;)

Here she is again, displaying the right-leaning sit-back.


As for the bewildered look, she tends to have that expression a lot for no particular reason.

Pocket of fun

Another pair of pants becomes Namiko's hiding place. Just when one least expects it, out comes a pocket claw attack!

Stretched out

On hot days, Namiko loves to lie on her back and stretch out. Most cats hate having their underside exposed since that is their most vulnerable part of the body. Namiko, on the other hand, enjoys having her belly gently rubbed.

And once again, falls victim to kitty sleepiness.

Peeking

Start of a new week means new adventures for Namiko. What shenanigans will she get into next?!

How about crawling into a pair of blue jeans and making it her fortress. The sound of ripping fabric suggests that she prefers her lookout area (i.e. knee hole) a little larger...


Dare to invade?! An exacting claw swipe should dispel such futile notions.

Lying around

Another warm, sunny Southern California weekend for Namiko. This time she poses with some of her favorite toys by her side: a sparkling feather toy and a crumbled up paper ball.

Reclining in bed, life seems so simple through her eyes. Eat, sleep, play...


Ummm, did I mention sleep? Must.. fight.. droopy eyes...


Surrenders.

Sitting

In her lazy cat way, Namiko often sits back nonchalantly as she surveys her surroundings. This sitting posture (sometimes referred to as the Buddha or yoga style) is a common feature in Scottish Fold cats.

Ahh, relaxing on a nice soft blue blanket...


A bed that is still warm is also an irresistible lure...

Sleepy donabe

Ignoring a nice comfy Petco cat bed, Namiko makes the donabe (clay cooking pot/bowl) her preferred sleeping vessel.

On the carpeted floor...


Or on top of a drawer set...

... It doesn't matter as long as the donabe is there!

Basket squeeze

The email form is still not working. I already reported the bug, so hopefully it'll get resolved soon.

In the meantime, Namiko squeezes herself into her favorite basket.

Tower better

A rare same day update! Just to bring you a better, higher quality pic of Namiko on her tower from awhile ago. Notice the hanging belly...

Having a bit of trouble with some of the blog settings (e.g. email form, image sizes), but hope to have the bugs worked out soon.

Here is Namiko enjoying some time on her super tall cat tower (imported directly from Japan!). Pic was taken using my low res cell phone camera.
